How exactly do Walmart restocks work?
Now that you’re a Walmart+ member, you are ready to start participating in their online restock events. But to maximize your chances for success, there are things you need to know.
Walmart has recently started implementing a Timed Queue during restocks
With a queue, you are placed in line, first come first serve. With this process you simply have to wait until your timer goes to zero and you are given the opportunity to purchase the console being sold in the restock event.
The problem is, for many people, the queue timer gets stuck at 1 minute and never gives them a chance to buy.
How to Bypass Walmart’s Queue Glitch And Actually Score a Console
Once the drop goes live, I will tweet a notification with links to the product pages on my Twitter page. Once you click on one of those links, you will enter the restock queue and you will be given a time that represents a countdown.
From there the countdown starts and you are given 2 options:
Stay in line
Or Save your place in line and continue shopping
During the last Walmart drop, I wanted to find out if there was any difference in the two options. As a test, I chose to keep one page open in the original queue, and continued shopping in a separate browser tab to see if there were any differences in the accuracy, speed, and success of the countdown.
And there was.
I tested both options, so you won’t have to…
Saving my place and continuing shopping produced a small box showing my countdown on the bottom left hand corner of the browser.
As time went by, the original queue page froze while the continue shopping box on the bottom left corner continued to count down. This was disappointing to see as this could easily cause one to believe they are further behind than they are.
My original queue never counted down to 0. However, the counters in the continue shopping box did… sort of. My countdown eventually hit 1 minute, but it froze there as well. After a few minutes I took a chance and refreshed the page. Upon doing so, it instantly stated that my wait time was up and I could purchase the PS5.
So here is a quick rundown of what to do during the next Walmart Restock
Click the link that I tweet when the restock drop goes live
Choose the save my place in line and continue shopping option
Wait until your countdown timer goes to 1 minute
Refresh your browser after a minute or so until you are allowed to purchase
Hopefully this will help the many of you that have done all of the right things on previous Walmart+ drops but have been having trouble finding success.
What else can I do to increase my chances for success?
There are a few key actions that can be done to increase your chances for success on any restock that happens.
Sign into each big retailer early each morning. Signing in during a drop can be a huge waste of time and can cost you your success as others checkout.
Have your payment set up and ready to go on each website. You don’t want to be scrambling and wasting time during a drop.
